SPICE Program – Ducks Give 2025 Ambassador Toolkit Summary

What is SPICE?

The Science Program to Inspire Creativity and Excellence (SPICE) is an award-winning STEM outreach program based at the University of Oregon. Since 2008, SPICE has provided free and low-cost science programming for middle school girls, trans, and non-binary youth—groups historically underrepresented in science.

Our mission is to build confidence, curiosity, and community through inclusive, hands-on science experiences. SPICE uses evidence-based strategies rooted in educational research and equity practices.

Why Your Support Matters

We are in a national moment where programs supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in education are under political attack. But science is for everyone, and now more than ever, we need programs like SPICE to stand strong.

That’s why our goal during Ducks Give 2025 is to raise $15,000 to fund scholarships for kids who couldn’t otherwise afford to attend.

No child should be excluded from learning science because of their gender identity or family income.
